Statement from Alderman Danny Solis on Shooting in Pilsen

Thursday night three individuals were needlessly shot in the 18th block of Troop St. in Pilsen. While two of the victims have been released from the hospital, one remains in the hospital in critical condition but is expected to make a full recovery. This is a tragic day for the Pilsen community. This senseless shooting serves as a reminder that our work is not done in fighting crime and gang activity in many of Chicago’s neighborhoods. I am more committed than ever to addressing the crime issue in Pilsen and working with the city council and the new Mayor-elect to reduce crime and protect our children and families. While the crime rate has dropped in Pilsen by 25%, our work will not be done until our children can play on the streets and feel safe on their own block. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims during this difficult time and through their recovery.
