If you are interested in having a Block Party, download the application or pick one up at our office. Make sure to bring proof of residency when you apply.
In an effort to keep our streets clean and safe, the following guidelines are immediately in effect:
·No alcohol or drug use on the public way.
·Block parties are public events and permits will not be issued for personal events (ie. Birthdays, graduation parties, etc.)
·Parties will end at 10:00pm
·65% of all residents must sign a petition (one signature per household in the case of apartment buildings).
·The Alderman’s office cannot grant “No Parking” signs.
·The Block Party permit allows residents to close the block to traffic, but the city does NOT provide other services, ie. Street cleaning, barricades, no parking signs). Applicant may ask neighbors to remove their cars, however the city does not require, nor enforce it.
·No cars parked at the end of the block to close the street.
DISCLAIMER:
Block Party Permits will no longer be issued to community organizations for special events. A special event application will be needed for submission at least 45 days prior to the event. Applications can be obtained at Alderman Solis’ office or at www.cityofchicago.org/specialevents. Jumping Jacks are not included in the application. Applicants must fill out a separate application two weeks before the event.
