This Property Tax Appeal workshop is hosted by Alderman Solis and the Cook County Board of Review, the governing body that has the authority to review your property tax appeal if you believe your taxes are too high. This workshop is very timely, as there is a short window of opportunity to appeal runs from April 18, 2011 – May 17, 2011 for the 2010 tax year. Once May 17th passes, you are no longer able to file an appeal.

At this workshop, staff from the Cook County Board of Review will walk you through, step-by-step how to fill out the paperwork necessary to appeal your property taxes. Please bring a copy of your most recent tax bill with you, as you will have the opportunity to submit the appeal that night at the workshop.

25th Ward Alderman Danny Solis is proud to co-sponsor a screening of the film With My Own Two Wheels with Working Bikes April 22nd at the Benito Juarez High School auditorium in Pilsen. The film weaves together the stories of five individuals across the globe into a single narrative about the bicycle as a vehicle for change. The documentary was shot on location in Zambia, Ghana, India, Guatemala and California.

The event will begin at Harrison Park (18th Street & Wood) in the 25th Ward's Pilsen neighborhood, work your way up to Little Itlay, wind your way through University Village, Chinatown and end up at Harrison Park for a celebration. We will be partnering with Working Bikes Co-Operative to be hosting a bike drive, so bring any unused bikes to the event as well. Mayor Daley's Bike Ambassadors, representatives from Active Transportation Alliance will also be there. Rapid Transit Cycleshop will be raffling off a free bike tune-up, too!
